GE Vernova to supply turbines for Chleansaid Wind Farm

GE Vernova has signed an agreement with ESB (Electricity Supply Board) to supply 16 of its 6.1 MW-158m onshore wind turbines for the 96 MW Chleansaid Wind Farm in the Scottish Highlands. The agreement includes a 20-year service contract, with the turbines to be manufactured in Germany.

Natural Power supports financing of 50 MW BESS in Sweden

Natural Power has supported OX2 in securing financing for a 50 MW / 209 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) co-located with the Fageråsen Wind Farm in Sweden. The four-hour system is being developed in the municipality of Malung-Sälen. Natural Power acted as lender’s technical advisor, providing technical due diligence services for the financing. The company previously provided technical due diligence for the Fageråsen Wind Farm’s financial close.
14 energy organisations establish Baltic Energy Initiative

Fourteen energy companies and organisations from Northern and Central Europe have established the Baltic Energy Initiative to cooperate on projects aimed at strengthening energy security and competitiveness across the region. Nadara submits scoping reports for Bellrock offshore transmission area

Nadara has submitted a Scoping Report and Habitats Regulations Appraisal (HRA) Screening Report to the Scottish Government’s Marine Directorate for the offshore transmission infrastructure associated with the proposed Bellrock floating offshore wind project. The project has a planned capacity of 1.8 GW. The Scoping Report seeks a Scoping Opinion on the scope of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report for Bellrock’s Offshore Transmission Development Area. The HRA Screening Report sets out potential impacts on European sites designated for nature conservation and will inform the HRA process.
German government approves changes to offshore wind tender rules

The German government has approved a draft amendment to the Offshore Wind Energy Act (WindSeeG). The changes include new rules for offshore wind tenders and measures affecting project development. Under the proposed system, tenders for offshore wind areas will continue to start with a dynamic bidding process without an upper limit on the bid price. If no project is awarded through this process, a Contract for Difference (CfD) auction will follow. The Bundesverband Windenergie Offshore (BWO) has criticised this two-stage approach and is calling for a CfD-only system.
Heerema completes foundation installation for Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms

Heerema Marine Contractors has completed the offshore foundation installation campaign for the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea. Using the semi-submersible crane vessel Thialf and around 35 support vessels, the company installed 100 monopiles, 100 transition pieces and two offshore substation jackets.
