Japan partners with Siemens Gamesa to support offshore wind supply chain

Extended lifetime for Nysted and Middelgrunden offshore wind farms

The Danish Energy Agency has granted permission for the Nysted and Middelgrunden offshore wind farms to continue generating electricity, extending their operating lives by ten and twenty-five years respectively. These are two of Denmark’s oldest offshore wind farms. Middelgrunden, located in the Øresund near Copenhagen, was originally commissioned in 2000, followed by Nysted, off southern Lolland, in 2003. The operators applied for lifetime extensions of ten years for Nysted and twenty-five years for Middelgrunden.
Spanish wind sector supports new legislation but urges regulatory clarity

Meta expands clean energy procurement with Invenergy to 1,800 MW

Bernhard Schulte Offshore christens new CSOV ‘Windea Curie’

Bernhard Schulte Offshore has taken delivery of its latest Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) from Ulstein Verft in Norway. The vessel, named Windea Curie, was christened on 26 June and will be deployed under charter to TenneT, the offshore transmission system operator, to support grid connection infrastructure in the North Sea.
New EU State Aid rules to support industrial decarbonisation and clean tech manufacturing

The European Commission has introduced a new framework for State Aid, known as the Climate, Energy and Environmental Aid Framework (CISAF), to support the Clean Industrial Deal. Published on 25 June 2025, CISAF enables EU Member States to fund strategic projects in electrification, industrial decarbonisation, and clean tech manufacturing. The framework will remain in place until the end of the decade, providing long-term policy and investment clarity.

RWE offshore wind control centre reaches construction milestone in East Friesland

A topping-out ceremony has been held for a new office building in Jemgum, East Friesland, which will house a wind control centre for RWE. From this site in the district of Leer, RWE will monitor and operate its current and future offshore wind farms in Germany and across continental Europe around the clock.
KIER advances large-scale wind blade design with new platform and research facility

The Wind Energy Research Department at the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER), led by Director Cheol Yoo, has developed a design platform and supporting research infrastructure to enable domestic development of large wind turbine blades. As part of this effort, the team designed a 12MW-class blade, which has been verified by the international classification society DNV.
