Pacifico Energy Vietnam has received approval for a sea survey licence from Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for the development of the up to 1,300 MW Nam Trung Bo 3 offshore wind project in Lam Dong Province. The project is identified in Vietnam’s adjusted power development plan VIII and is expected to enter commercial operation between 2031 and 2035.
The licence allows Pacifico Energy to undertake technical and environmental studies to evaluate the approved offshore area, establish the project design basis and prepare for subsequent investment and permitting activities.
Pacifico Energy will first conduct desktop assessments of the site and develop a detailed survey campaign ahead of field activities planned for 2027. The programme will include geotechnical and geophysical surveys, wind measurement, meteorological and oceanographic studies, environmental baseline surveys and other technical assessments to evaluate site conditions and support project design.
The approval follows a sea survey licence issued for the 500 MW Nam Bo PE2.1 offshore wind project in Ho Chi Minh City. Together, the two projects represent 1.8 GW of Pacifico Energy’s offshore wind development pipeline in Vietnam.
