Sirius Design & Integration has introduced a new cable-laying vessel (CLV) concept for offshore wind, interconnectors and other grid projects. The design includes a large-capacity cable carousel to carry long continuous cable lengths and reduce the need for port calls. An integrated cable-laying system is designed to handle cables from the carousel to the seabed.

The German Aerospace Center (DLR) has completed the assembly and installation of Opus 3, a modular wind turbine designed and built specifically for research, at its WiValdi wind energy research park in Krummendeich, Lower Saxony, Germany. Commissioning is now under way and regular research operations are scheduled to begin in early 2027.

Glasgow-based drone company Airspection has completed a round trip of around 14 km over the open sea, operating entirely beyond the operator’s line of sight. The flights were carried out as part of a programme supported by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to develop the evidence needed for routine long-range drone operations in UK airspace. Airspection carried out the flights off Liverpool Bay, launching from the shore and operating the aircraft towards a working offshore wind farm before returning to shore.
