Sany Renewable Energy has extended the design life of its wind turbines from 20 to 25 years, starting with its 915 platform. Key components are being engineered and fatigue-tested for the extended design life. Selected models in the 6.X–11.X MW range have already been certified for the longer operating period.
According to Sany, the extension could increase generation profit over the operating period by an estimated 56–58%, reduce the levelised cost of energy by 6–7% and improve project internal rate of return by 0.8 percentage points.
