The Energy Assessment Department of International Wind Engineering has developed Argus Wind, an in-house wind analysis tool written in Python. Named after Argus Panoptes, a figure from Greek mythology, the software analyses wind and meteorological measurements at multiple heights. It is designed primarily for remote sensing devices but can also process other types of wind measurements.
Argus Wind supports analysis in accordance with MEASNET and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) requirements and provides data quality documentation. Its functions include wind speed frequency distributions, wind roses, monthly statistics, diurnal profiles and fitted Weibull distributions. The software also analyses wind shear, fitted wind profiles and wind veer over time, and includes IEC turbulence assessment, energy calculations and report generation.
