Natural Power has completed an update of the Ornithological Cumulative Assessment Model (OCcAM), an offshore wind seabird mortality tool developed to support early-stage impact assessment across the sector. OCcAM is an Excel-based tool that provides indicative predictions of the potential effects of offshore wind farms on seabirds. It is built on established methodologies used in UK environmental impact assessments and habitats regulations assessments, enabling users to generate consistent estimates of collision risk and distributional impacts for multiple seabird species.
Enel to acquire 830 MW wind and solar portfolio in USA

Enel has signed agreements to acquire an 830 MW portfolio of wind and solar plants in the USA. The transaction is being carried out through Enel Green Power North America and EGPNA Project Holdco 2, under agreements with Excelsior Energy Capital. The portfolio has a total installed capacity of 830 MW and an expected average annual generation of around 2.1 terawatt hours.

Business in Wind prepares turbine replacement at Scott Base, Antarctica

On Ross Island in Antarctica, New Zealand’s Scott Base has operated with renewable energy for several years. Three Enercon E-33 wind turbines have been running for multiple seasons in the Antarctic environment. As part of the Scott Base redevelopment, the existing 300 kW turbines will be replaced with three EWT DW54X Extreme Cold Climate 1 MW wind turbines.
