GE Vernova has announced plans to expand manufacturing capacity within its Electrification segment by establishing a new facility in Hai Phong, Vietnam. The facility will manufacture large power transformers mainly for High Voltage Direct Current projects.
The facility is complementing GE Vernova’s existing High Voltage Direct Current transformer manufacturing sites in Stafford, United Kingdom, and India. These technologies are used to transmit electricity efficiently over long distances and help ensure that power networks can safely and reliably manage rising electricity demand. The Hai Phong facility, with an investment of approximately US$ 200 million, will be developed in phases, with full operations expected in 2028. The project is expected to create approximately 450 jobs by 2030.
