Hitachi Energy will invest an additional CAD 270 million (USD 195 million) to expand its power transformer manufacturing facility near Montreal, Canada. The expansion builds on a project announced in 2024 and will almost triple the site’s annual production capacity. Around 500 new jobs are expected to be created.
Planned upgrades include a new assembly line and two flexible core and winding feeding lines to improve production continuity. The factory will also continue to apply Hitachi Energy’s TrafoStar transformer technology platform, which standardises design, manufacturing processes and quality control across its global network of transformer plants.
