GE Vernova’s second quarter 2025 financial results reflect mixed performance across its wind segment, with growth in onshore deliveries but continued financial losses driven by offshore service costs and tariffs. While the wind segment faces financial headwinds, GE Vernova continues to emphasise its long-term commitment to renewables through targeted investment in technology, grid integration, and energy transition support.

The company reported wind orders totalling US$2.1 billion, a 5% organic decline compared to the same quarter in 2024. The decrease was attributed primarily to lower onshore wind equipment orders. Despite this, wind revenue grew by 9%, driven by higher volumes of onshore wind turbine deliveries. However, profitability in the segment remained under pressure. GE Vernova reported increased EBITDA losses from its wind operations, caused by elevated servicing costs in onshore wind and the ongoing impact of tariffs in the offshore wind business. These challenges offset the benefits of increased equipment volume and improved pricing.

In response, the company has invested more than US$100 million in upgrading and improving the performance of its installed wind turbine base, which currently numbers approximately 57,000 units worldwide. This investment supports ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and energy output across existing wind projects.

Looking ahead, GE Vernova has adjusted its 2025 outlook for the wind segment. It now expects organic revenue to decline by a mid-single-digit percentage for the full year and projects segment EBITDA losses in the range of US$200 million to US$400 million. The company stated that these expectations include the continued effect of tariffs and associated inflation, which are now anticipated to remain at the lower end of the previously estimated US$300 million to US$400 million range.
