Equinor has decided to end its offshore wind business activities in Japan and will close its Tokyo office by the end of 2026. The decision follows a strategic review that places greater emphasis on integrated power markets.
During its time in Japan, Equinor worked with partners, government authorities and industry stakeholders to support the development of the country's offshore wind sector. The company said the experience and expertise gained will continue to strengthen its global offshore wind activities.
Despite closing its local offshore wind business, Equinor said Japan will remain an important market. The company will continue to work with Japanese companies on technology development, commodities, capital markets and supply chain activities.
