Iberdrola increased the amount of electricity distributed across its global networks by 6.3% in the first half of 2026 to 136,648 GWh, reflecting higher electricity demand and continued electrification. Electricity distribution increased across all of the group's operating regions. The largest increase was recorded in the United Kingdom, where distributed electricity rose by 32.6%, supported by the integration of Electricity North West.
Generation capacity increased by almost 4% over the past 12 months to 56,827 MW, an addition of around 2,300 MW. Most of the new capacity came from onshore and offshore wind, which together added more than 1,400 MW, while solar capacity increased by more than 1,000 MW. Battery storage capacity more than doubled, rising by 117% following the commissioning of new projects in Spain and Australia.
Continental Europe and Australia recorded the largest regional increase in installed capacity, up 23.2% with more than 1,000 MW added. The expansion was driven mainly by onshore wind projects in Australia, Greece and Portugal, and solar projects in Germany and Italy. Capacity also increased by nearly 800 MW in the USA, around 400 MW in the United Kingdom and approximately 600 MW in Spain.
Electricity generation reached 61,318 GWh during the first half of 2026, an increase of almost 1% compared with the same period last year, supported by a 2% increase in the second quarter. Offshore wind generation rose by 23%, while the strongest regional growth was recorded in the United Kingdom (27.3%), the USA (8%) and the group's other international markets (11.5%).
