AMSC has announced that it entered into an exclusive license agreement for a 3MW class wind turbine design in India with Inox Wind (Inox). Under the terms of the license agreement, AMSC and Inox have agreed that AMSC will be the exclusive supplier of electric control systems (ECS) for Inox’s 3MW class wind turbine.

Last year DeepMind and Google started applying machine learning algorithms to 700MW of wind power capacity in the central USA. Using a neural network trained on widely available weather forecasts and historical turbine data, they configured the DeepMind system to predict wind power output 36 hours ahead of actual generation.

The first milestone in the construction of Nexans’ new DP3 cable laying vessel, the C/S Aurora, was passed with the cutting of the first steel. Aurora will be used for the installation of submarine cables to help bring more energy to the world, connect offshore wind farms to the grid, support electrification of offshore petroleum installations and create interconnectors between countries.

Wood has completed the first commercial lidar test at the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult’s new UK test and verification facility. The 7MW Levenmouth Demonstration Turbine’s onshore met mast, located on the Fife coast and operated by ORE Catapult, offers the opportunity to test, demonstrate and verify up to four lidar systems at any one time against high quality, representative offshore wind resources.
