The tender for the Nederwiek I-A wind energy zone opened on 16 October, with developers able to submit applications for a permit to build and operate a wind farm of around 1 GW until 30 October 2025. The site is located 95 kilometres off the northern tip of North Holland, in the southern part of the Nederwiek zone.

The original plan for a 2 GW site was reduced by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy to limit risks and encourage broader participation. The permit will be awarded based on a comparative assessment with a financial bid. Additional criteria aim to encourage innovation in ecology, circularity, and system integration. The wind farm will connect to TenneT’s Nederwiek 1 platform, part of the Netherlands’ 2 GW standard for offshore connections, with export cables running to Borssele to feed electricity into the national high-voltage grid. The winner is expected to be announced in spring 2026, with construction planned for 2030.
