Amprion has identified the wreckage of a World War II US B-17 bomber during routine ordnance surveys for the DolWin4 offshore grid connection. The remains were found around 260 metres from the planned DolWin delta converter platform. The discovery will not delay the project.

DTBird and DTBat have been awarded a contract to supply bird and bat protection systems for the Ghoubet Wind Farm, developed by Red Sea Power in the Arta region of Djibouti. The 60 MW project comprises seventeen Siemens Gamesa SG132 turbines with rotor heights up to 150 m, located approximately 1 km west of Lake Ghoubet.

Seawind Asia has received official grid connection agreements in the Philippines for three offshore wind projects: Frontera Bay (450 MW), Guimaras Strait (600 MW) and Guimaras Strait 2 (600 MW). These are among the first grid connection agreements issued for offshore wind farms in the Philippines, marking a step forward for the country’s offshore wind sector.

Enel has signed agreements to acquire an 830 MW portfolio of wind and solar plants in the USA. The transaction is being carried out through Enel Green Power North America and EGPNA Project Holdco 2, under agreements with Excelsior Energy Capital. The portfolio has a total installed capacity of 830 MW and an expected average annual generation of around 2.1 terawatt hours.

On Ross Island in Antarctica, New Zealand’s Scott Base has operated with renewable energy for several years. Three Enercon E-33 wind turbines have been running for multiple seasons in the Antarctic environment.
