RWE has officially opened the operations and maintenance base for the Thor offshore wind farm at Thorsminde port, Denmark. The facility was designed by ATRA arkitekter and Frandsen & Søndergaard, while Østermark Entreprenørforretning carried out construction. The 2,300 square metre building spans three floors and includes a control room, warehousing and office facilities, as well as a canteen and rooftop terrace. Its materials and colours reflect the surrounding dunes and grass.

The European Commission has approved a Danish state aid scheme to support offshore wind energy in line with the objectives of the Clean Industrial Deal. It will support the construction and operation of two offshore wind farms, Hesselø and North Sea I Mid. Hesselø is expected to have a capacity of at least 0.8 GW and generate around 3.2 TWh annually, while North Sea I Mid is planned with a minimum capacity of 1 GW and annual generation of approximately 4.6 TWh.

ScottishPower, through its parent Iberdrola, has secured financing for the Eastern Green Link 4 subsea power transmission project in the United Kingdom. Eastern Green Link 4 is a 2 GW high voltage direct current subsea power link designed to transport electricity from Scotland to England, helping to reduce network constraint costs by moving power from generation areas to centres of demand.

Nordex has received an order for its N175/6.X turbines for the 21 MW Marienmünster-Altenbergen wind project in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The client is Westfälisch-Niedersächsische Energie. Nordex will supply and install three N175/6.X turbines, each with a nominal capacity of 7 MW, mounted on the company’s hybrid tower system with a hub height of 199 metres.
