Arenko has been selected to deploy its Nimbus optimisation, asset management and trading platform at Ørsted’s 300 MW/600 MWh Iceni battery energy storage project in the UK. The project will be co-located with the 2.9 GW Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm and is scheduled to become operational in the first quarter of 2027.
Under the agreement, Arenko will use its Nimbus platform to manage trading, optimisation and asset management of the battery storage system.
Iceni is a UK Path Finder co-location project under the Offshore Transmission Network Review. It will share transmission assets and an onshore grid connection with Hornsea 3, demonstrating how offshore wind and battery storage can use shared grid infrastructure.
The project is intended to improve the coordination of generation and storage, make more efficient use of existing grid capacity and reduce the need for additional network infrastructure.
