Fugro reports higher margin and cash flow despite weaker offshore wind market
- Details
- Category: Company News
Fugro's first-half 2026 results continued to be affected by subdued offshore wind markets, resulting in overcapacity and pricing pressure, as well as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Revenue increased by 4.3% during the first half of 2026, supported by growth in the oil and gas, infrastructure and water markets. The Earnings Before Interest and Taxes (EBIT) margin improved to 4.1%, compared with 2.3% in the first half of 2025, reflecting higher revenue and cost control despite inflationary pressures and operational disruptions in the Middle East.
Laser-based coatings developed for PFAS-free wind turbine components
- Details
- Category: Product News
Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT is developing laser-based manufacturing processes to apply PFAS-free functional coatings to industrial components, including large plain bearings, seals and other parts relevant for the wind energy sector. PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) have traditionally been used in applications requiring low friction, wear resistance and protection against harsh operating conditions. However, regulatory pressure on these substances is increasing due to their persistence in the environment. Replacing PFAS-based coatings requires not only alternative materials but also suitable processes to apply them reliably to components exposed to high mechanical loads.
