RES launches Smart Pilot for automated blade inspection

RES’ Digital Solutions business has launched Smart Pilot, a data capture software designed to support wind blade inspections during a single turbine stop. Traditionally, blade inspections required a turbine to be stopped three times to position each blade individually, with a separate drone flight for each. Smart Pilot reduces this process to a single automated stop.
European Energy signs balancing agreement for Måde hybrid park with Twig Energy

European Energy has signed an agreement with Danish balancing responsible party Twig Energy for the operation and optimisation of its hybrid park at Måde near Esbjerg in western Denmark. The agreement covers a combined setup consisting of two electrolysers with a total capacity of 8.1 MW for green hydrogen production, two wind turbines with a combined capacity of 16 MW, and a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 5 MW / 20 MWh.
Encomara floating wind SQUID system receives ABS product design assessment

The SQUID system, designed by Encomara and manufactured by Aurora Energy Services (AES), has received a product design assessment from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). The SQUID system integrates pre-installed mooring lines and electrical connections into a single subsea unit, designed to support more streamlined installation of floating offshore wind turbine systems.
UK and Japan target 5.9 GW of floating offshore wind development

The UK and Japan are expected to agree a package of investment and cooperation agreements that includes support for 5.9 GW of floating offshore wind projects in UK waters. At the centre of the package is a new Offshore Wind Compact, developed in partnership with Great British Energy. The agreement is intended to support the development of the Ossian and Green Volt projects off Scotland's east coast and the Erebus project in the Celtic Sea.
SunZia wind project set to become largest operating wind farm in USA

The SunZia Wind Project in New Mexico, the largest wind farm in the USA, is scheduled to begin commercial operations this month. The project has a total net summer generating capacity of 3,650 MW and consists of 916 wind turbines. SunZia is connected to a high-voltage transmission line that will deliver electricity to Arizona and California.
SeaRenergy restructures management team

SeaRenergy Offshore Holding, a service provider for the offshore wind sector, is restructuring its management team to align its leadership structure with the company’s next phase of growth. Jan Boje Steffens will retire on 30 June 2026 after 24 years with the Rickmers family, sharholders of SeaRenergy, and a key role in SeaRenergy since its founding in 2010. Following the change, SeaRenergy will be led by three managing directors with defined areas of responsibility.

Germany advances offshore wind reform plans under Federal Council resolution

The German Federal Council has adopted a resolution on offshore wind expansion that outlines proposed changes to the country’s regulatory and auction framework, including reforms to tender design and stronger cross-border cooperation mechanisms. The resolution calls on the Federal Government to present a draft amendment to the Offshore Wind Energy Act before the summer recess of 2026. The changes are intended to support a revised auction framework expected to be introduced for tenders from 2027 onwards.
France prepares AO10 offshore wind tender under 10 GW programme

France has launched its AO10 offshore wind tender, covering 11 fixed-bottom and floating wind projects with just over 10 GW of capacity across Normandy, Brittany, the South Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean Sea. The tender includes seven floating wind (FW) projects and four fixed-bottom (FB) projects, including three 1.35 GW fixed-bottom sites at Fécamp Grand Large, the 1.2 GW Bretagne Nord Ouest floating wind project and the 1.2 GW Oléron 1 development.
