Orlen Neptun has signed a new contract with Smulders to expand the use of its offshore wind farm installation terminal in Świnoujście. Smulders, responsible for manufacturing suspended internal platforms for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm, will use the terminal to store and assemble steel components. This follows an earlier agreement with Ocean Winds for the BC-Wind project.
Under the contract, Smulders will lease space at the terminal to support the construction of Baltica 2, developed by the PGE and Ørsted consortium. The site will handle delivery, storage, and assembly of service inspection platforms, which will then be transported offshore on specialised vessels. The partnership also includes building a facility for preparatory, assembly, installation, and repair work.
The terminal was developed to support Orlen Group’s offshore projects under the second phase of Poland’s wind power expansion programme. Licences awarded in 2023 allow the Group to construct five Baltic Sea wind farms with a combined capacity of 5.2 GW. The first, Baltic East (1 GW), off Choczewo, is being prepared for the December auction. A separate project in the Ławica Odrzańska area includes four licences, all intended to participate in Poland’s offshore wind support scheme. Three of the five licences are expected to be operational by 2035, with full implementation by 2040.
