Nadara submits scoping reports for Bellrock offshore transmission areaNadara has submitted a Scoping Report and Habitats Regulations Appraisal (HRA) Screening Report to the Scottish Government’s Marine Directorate for the offshore transmission infrastructure associated with the proposed Bellrock floating offshore wind project. The project has a planned capacity of 1.8 GW. The Scoping Report seeks a Scoping Opinion on the scope of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report for Bellrock’s Offshore Transmission Development Area. The HRA Screening Report sets out potential impacts on European sites designated for nature conservation and will inform the HRA process.

The project has also confirmed Cowie, north of Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire, as the landfall location for its export cables. The location was selected following environmental and engineering studies, as well as community consultation in November 2025 and March 2026. The Offshore Transmission Development Area will include infrastructure such as offshore substations and offshore export cables. A Marine Licence application for the area is expected to be submitted by the end of 2027. The Scoping and HRA Screening process is being managed by the Scottish Government’s Marine Directorate – Licensing Operations Team on behalf of Scottish Ministers. Bellrock Offshore Wind Farm is wholly owned by Nadara.
