Heerema Marine Contractors has completed the offshore foundation installation campaign for the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea. Using the semi-submersible crane vessel Thialf and around 35 support vessels, the company installed 100 monopiles, 100 transition pieces and two offshore substation jackets.
The campaign involved several fabrication yards, ports and marine contractors, with around 15 vessels operating simultaneously at peak activity for transportation, marine coordination, noise mitigation, crew transfer, grouting and bolting. Heerema is scheduled to return to the Baltic Sea this winter to install the Bałtyk 2 offshore substation, followed by the Bałtyk 3 offshore substation in summer 2027. Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 are being developed by Equinor and Polenergia.
