Orlen Neptun, part of the Orlen Group, to open a new offshore wind installation terminal in Świnoujście, Poland. The terminal will support the development of the group’s offshore wind farms and will also be available to other operators working in the Baltic Sea, including German, Swedish and Danish waters.
The facility is designed to handle large-scale offshore wind components and accommodate heavy-lift and jack-up vessels used for turbines of around 15 MW. It enables the handling and storage of monopile foundations, towers, blades, nacelles, cabling components, and offshore transformer station superstructures weighing up to 24,000 tonnes. Once fully operational, the terminal is expected to employ several dozen people.
Orlen Neptun has signed its first long-term contract with Ocean Winds, a Spanish-French consortium. The agreement covers the lease of almost the entire terminal area for the BC-Wind offshore wind project, located about 150 nautical miles (approximately 228 kilometres) from Świnoujście. The terminal will be used for delivery, storage, and initial preparation of foundations, which will then be transported to the installation site. Loading operations onto specialised vessels will also take place at the terminal, with transshipment and port services provided by local firms.
