Jumbo has signed a contract with Dajin Heavy Industry for the construction of two heavy lift transportation vessels. The vessels will form Jumbo’s new L-Class fleet, designed for a range of heavy lift transport operations. Each L-Class vessel will be equipped with two 1,200-tonne heavy lift cranes supplied by Huisman, providing a combined lifting capacity of 2,400 tonnes per vessel.
The first vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2028, with the second due in 2029. The vessels will support operations in sectors including offshore wind, oil and gas, mining and specialised marine heavy lift transport.
Vuyk Engineering, a Dutch maritime design house, was responsible for the design of the vessels together with Jumbo’s in-house design team, including the definition of main dimensions and performance characteristics. Particular attention was given to optimising service speed and fuel efficiency.
