J-Power has joined the WHEEL project, a floating offshore wind demonstration led by Esteyco off the coast of Gran Canaria, Spain. The project will test a single 6,170kW floating wind turbine using Esteyco’s WHEEL technology.
The WHEEL foundation combines features of barge-type and spar-type platforms and is primarily constructed from concrete. J-Power aims to gain experience in manufacturing, assembly, installation, and operation of floating wind technology, supporting future development of floating offshore wind in Japan and internationally.
