Apple is expanding its renewable energy portfolio in Europe with new wind and solar developments in Greece, Italy, Latvia, Poland and Romania. Together with a recently completed solar farm in Spain, the company’s initiatives will add around 650 MW of renewable capacity to European grids over the next few years.
In Romania, Apple will purchase electricity from Nala Renewables’ 99 MW wind farm in Galați County through a long-term agreement originated by OX2, which is currently constructing the project. In Italy, Apple is supporting a 129 MW portfolio that includes both solar and wind projects.
Elsewhere, Apple has signed a long-term deal in Greece for power from Helleniq Energy’s 110 MW solar project, and in Latvia it has agreed one of the country’s first corporate power purchase agreements with European Energy for a 110 MW solar farm. In Poland, Apple has enabled Econergy’s 40 MW solar array, which is due to begin operation later this year. The company has also supported the 131 MW ib vogt solar
