Waukesha Bearings has introduced the NordAlign bearing, designed for use in wind turbine main shafts. The product is intended to support operational performance and maintenance in wind applications.
The bearing uses tilt pads that adjust to radial and axial shaft movements to distribute loads more evenly. The pads can be replaced uptower when maintenance or repair is required. The modular design allows the bearing to be adapted for larger turbine models. Its pad geometry is designed to facilitate integration into the nacelle, supporting both retrofit and new installations. Waukesha Bearings also developed a polymer material for the application, aimed at improving wear resistance and operational performance in wind turbine conditions.
