First Subsea has successfully completed its first customer witnessed open water demonstration of a new Cable Protection System (CPS) for offshore wind farms. The CPS is being deployed on Hornsea Project One and it offers a quicker installation and reduced risk of cable fatigue compared to traditional systems.

An independent performance verification of a nacelle-mounted ZephIR Lidar has been undertaken by DNV GL on the test site in Janneby, Germany. In the verification, the ZephIR DM nacelle-mounted lidar was mounted horizontally on a raised platform (FW-MM) – 180 metres away from two reference met masts (T-MM-N and T-MM-S) equipped with calibrated anemometers at DNV GL’s test site, located 20 kilometres southwest of Flensburg, Germany.

Enerpac has announced a new Ultra-Flat hydraulic cylinder series for those offshore wind projects with small working space, starting at just 2,8 cm, but large lifting requirements up to 1000 ton. The CULP-Series with lifting capacity 10 – 50 ton, and CUSP-Series 10 – 1000 ton, are designed for applications where high lifting forces are needed in confined spaces.

In the project for connecting the DolWin gamma converter station, for the first time a cable system consisting of a highly flexible 155 kV high-voltage cable with solid-insulated, pluggable Connex size 6 connection system and gas-free epoxy resin joints from Pfisterer has been successfully tested and installed under real conditions on an offshore platform.

INNAS and Hydrautrans are developing a mechanical-hydraulic transmission for offshore wind turbines with a capacity of more than 12MW. The Floating Cup Technology will be used for the transmission, invented and patented by INNAS. The hydraulic pumps and motors operate without internal metal-to-metal contact, which translates into a system without wear.

NRG Systems has announced that its longtime partner, Mumbai-based RK Systems, has supplied and erected India’s tallest lattice met tower. Commissioned in June 2017 in Southern India, the tower stretches 150 metres high and features an array of NRG products, including 40C anemometers, 200P wind vanes, 110S temperature sensors, a BP20 barometric pressure sensor, and a SymphoniePRO data logger with iPackGPS.
