First offshore export cable installed at Scotland’s Inch Cape offshore wind farm

The first of Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm’s two 85-kilometre offshore export cables has been successfully installed off the east coast of Scotland. The 220-kilovolt three-phase cable was laid in three 28-kilometre sections by Enshore Subsea using the CMOS Installer cable-lay vessel operating from the Port of Blyth. Once operational, it will transmit power from the 1.1 GW wind farm to the project’s onshore substation under construction at Cockenzie, East Lothian.
Engie signs long-term PPA with Apple in Italy

Engie has signed a 15-year renewable Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Apple. Under the agreement, Engie will develop two wind farms with a combined capacity of 74 MW, one repowering project of 11 MW, and two agrivoltaic plants totalling 88 MW. All projects are authorised, located in southern Italy, and are scheduled to become operational between 2026 and 2027.
ABO Energy to build eleven substations in Germany

Over the next two years, ABO Energy plans to construct eleven substations across Germany to connect new wind, solar and battery parks to the grid. In the past, the developer has sold substations and their associated energy parks on a proportional basis to operators. For strategic reasons, ABO Energy now intends to retain ownership of substations in Germany, creating potential for additional income.

Bio-Uv Group deploys containerised ballast water system for EFGL floating wind project

Bio-Uv Group has completed the first commercial deployment of its containerised Bio-Sea ballast water treatment system (BWTS) at Port-la-Nouvelle in southern France, supporting the EFGL floating offshore wind project in the Mediterranean. The system treated water deballasted from three floating wind turbine platforms before their offshore deployment.
GE Vernova wind business shows operational improvement in third quarter

GE Vernova has reported improved performance in its wind operations for the third quarter of 2025, reflecting progress in stabilising the business and improving margins. GE Vernova secured 0.3 GW of onshore repowering orders during the quarter, bringing the total to 0.6 GW for the year to date. The company said it continues to focus on improving reliability, cost efficiency, and project execution across its wind portfolio as part of its broader effort to support the global transition to renewable energy.
DWT and OutSmart secure operations contract for Hai Long offshore wind project in Taiwan

DWT and its subsidiary OutSmart have been awarded a five-year contract for the Hai Long Offshore Wind Project in Taiwan. The project includes the Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3 wind farms, which together will comprise 73 Siemens Gamesa 14-222 turbines with a total installed capacity of over 1 GW.

The European project I3FLOAT was officially launched with a kick-off meeting held in Brussels on 8–9 October 2025. The project unites 24 partners from eight countries to strengthen the European floating offshore wind value chain through cross-regional innovation and investment. Over the next three years, I3FLOAT will support the scale-up of advanced technologies and promote cooperation between regional innovation ecosystems. A key objective is to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Less Developed Regions, supporting a more inclusive industrial transition in line with EU climate and energy goals.
RWE begins construction of new onshore wind farms in Italy
