Salamander Offshore Wind Farm advances with planning permission and key approvals

The Salamander Offshore Wind Farm, developed by the Salamander Wind Project Company Limited—a joint venture between Ørsted, Simply Blue Group, and Subsea7—has been granted Planning Permission in Principle for the onshore elements of its proposed floating wind development. The project is located 35 km off Peterhead on Scotland's East Coast.
Wind energy expansion slows amid record renewable growth

Renewable energy accounted for over 90% of global power expansion in 2024, with wind and solar leading the growth. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency’s latest data, total renewable capacity reached 4,448 GW, with 585 GW added last year. Wind energy capacity grew by 11.1%, reaching 1,133 GW, though its expansion rate declined slightly compared to previous years.

Hexicon sells stake in Italian floating wind projects

Hexicon has signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement with Ingka Investments, the investment arm of Ingka Group, and Oxan Energy to sell its 50% stake in two floating offshore wind projects in Italy, Sicily South and Sardinia Northwest. The transaction is expected to close in early April.
European Energy to sell wind portfolio in Poland to Enea

European Energy has signed agreements to sell six operational wind farms in Poland to Enea. The wind farms, located in the West Pomeranian region, were commissioned between 2021 and 2023 and have a total installed capacity of 83.5 MW. The portfolio includes turbines from Siemens Gamesa, GE Vernova, and Nordex.
Peak Wind to manage operations for Fengmiao I offshore wind farm

Peak Wind has signed an Operations Management Agreement for the 495 MW Fengmiao I offshore wind farm in Taiwan, which has reached financial close. The project, owned by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners through its Copenhagen Infrastructure V fund, is located 35 km off the coast of Taichung.
Cadeler takes delivery of new wind turbine installation vessel

Cadeler has taken delivery of its latest jack-up wind turbine installation vessel, Wind Pace. Wind Pace is the seventh vessel in Cadeler’s fleet and was officially named on 12 March at a ceremony at the Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry shipyard in Qidong, China, where it was built.
Renewable energy generation in the USA rises by 18% in January

A review by the Sun Day Campaign of newly released data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) shows that renewable energy generation increased by 18% in January compared to the same month in the previous year. This growth was driven by a 25% rise in wind power and a 58% increase in utility-scale solar.
