Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) has appointed co-founder Lars Thaaning Pedersen as its new CEO. Henrik Scheinemann, COP’s co-founder and current CEO, will become Chairman of the Board on 1 September 2026.
ABB to supply power and propulsion system for Allseas vessel

ABB has secured a contract with Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) to supply an integrated power and propulsion system for Allseas’ semi-submersible heavy transport vessel Grand Tour. The 230-metre vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2028 and will transport large converter stations from manufacturers in Asia and Europe before transferring them to Allseas’ construction vessel Pioneering Spirit for installation.
RES wins safety contract for East Anglia TWO offshore wind farm

RES has been awarded the Safety from the System and Operational Control contract for ScottishPower Renewables’ East Anglia TWO offshore wind farm. The contract covers the formal framework for safely isolating and controlling high-voltage assets, managing associated risks and enabling work to be carried out safely throughout the project.
Germany proposes changes to offshore wind law

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) has opened consultation with industry associations on the draft 2026 amendment to the Wind Energy at Sea Act (WindSeeG). The draft retains the target of at least 70 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2045 and proposes annual tenders of between 2,000 MW and 4,800 MW, the introduction of two-sided contracts for difference (CfDs) and an increase in the standard operating period for new offshore wind farms from 25 to 35 years. The German Offshore Wind Energy Foundation (BWO) welcomes several key elements but says further changes are needed to the tender design.
Offshore wind push to reshape Türkiye’s renewables landscape

Türkiye is preparing to launch its first major offshore wind tender through the Renewable Energy Resources Zone (YEKA) programme. The initiative could support investment in offshore wind and contribute to the country’s renewable energy targets, according to GlobalData. GlobalData’s latest report, *Türkiye Power Market Trends and Analysis by Capacity, Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Regulations, Key Players and Forecast to 2035*, says Türkiye’s broader renewable energy strategy targets 120 GW of combined solar and wind capacity by 2035 and includes offshore wind.

Goldwind signs 89.7 MW turbine contract in Thailand

Goldwind has signed a turbine supply and installation contract for the DKT1 Wind Power Project with Wind Energy Holding (WEH) in Thailand. The project will use 23 GWH182-3.9 MW turbines, with a combined capacity of 89.7 MW.
Llŷr offshore wind projects receive Section 36 consent

The Llŷr offshore wind projects have received Section 36 consent from the Welsh Ministers, allowing the developments to progress towards construction in the Celtic Sea. The Llŷr 1 and Llŷr 2 sites are located around 40 kilometres off the Pembrokeshire coast, in average water depths of 60 to 70 metres. Each project will have a capacity of 100 MW and comprise six to eight turbines, with the two projects expected to use different floating wind technologies.
MOL completes Wind Whale heavy-lift coastal vessel

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), MOL Drybulk and MOL Coastal Shipping have held a completion ceremony for the Wind Whale, a new coastal deck carrier for transporting heavy components. The vessel will be jointly owned by MOL and MOL Drybulk and operated by MOL Coastal Shipping, with support from MOL Drybulk.
France selects five ports for floating wind infrastructure

The French government has selected five ports to receive France 2030 funding for infrastructure supporting the development of floating offshore wind. The selected ports are Cherbourg, Brest, Nantes-Saint-Nazaire, Port-la-Nouvelle and Marseille-Fos. The projects were selected under a France 2030 call launched in 2024 to adapt French ports for floating wind manufacturing, assembly and turbine integration.
