Eiffage, through its Belgian subsidiary Smulders, has been awarded a second contract for an offshore converter platform by 50Hertz, the transmission system operator for northern and eastern Germany. Smulders is part of the NSORe joint venture (Neptun Smulders Offshore Renewables). NSORe is an equal joint venture between Smulders and Neptun Werft, part of Meyer Werft, focused on high-voltage direct current (HVDC) offshore substation projects.
In June 2026, NSORe, as part of a consortium with Siemens Energy, was awarded a contract by 50Hertz to build a 2 GW converter station for the LanWin6 offshore grid connection project. The new contract covers a second 2 GW converter platform for the LanWin3 project in the North Sea.
As with LanWin6, Siemens Energy will supply the high-voltage components for the LanWin3 project. NSORe will be responsible for the complete implementation and turnkey delivery of the facilities, including system design, component procurement, construction, onshore and offshore installation, and commissioning.
The topside, including the main building of the offshore platform, will be constructed at NSORe’s shipyard in Rostock-Warnemünde. Smulders will manufacture the steel substructure (jacket) at its shipyard in Vlissingen, the Netherlands.
