Kongsberg Maritime has signed a contract to supply deck machinery for a new floating wind construction vessel being built for Hana Shipping of Korea. The 127-metre vessel is intended to support floating wind farm construction activities. Scheduled for delivery in July 2027, the vessel has been designed by Focal and will be deployed at the Ulsan Floating Wind Farm Construction project, located around 70 kilometres off the coast of Ulsan, Korea. The vessel will be used for mooring operations, cable laying and other offshore construction tasks required for floating wind developments.
The contract covers the delivery of a deck machinery package centred on a 500-tonne main towing and anchor handling tug supply winch system with three drums. Additional equipment includes secondary winches for rope installation, a rope tensioner system, tugger winches, an active heave-compensated working winch and a Towcon X8 control system. All winches will be fitted with low-pressure hydraulic motors developed and manufactured by Kongsberg Maritime in Brattvåg, Norway.
The scope of supply also includes two systems developed for large anchor handling and mooring installation vessels: the Shark Jaw system and AH100 rail cranes. The AH100 cranes offer higher lifting capacity and extended reach for larger vessels and are equipped with dual arms and interchangeable tooling to support different offshore tasks. The Shark Jaw system is designed to handle chain sizes of up to 220 millimetres and features remotely adjustable inserts to improve safety and operational flexibility.
