Steelcut IJmuiden Ver Beta Jacket 1The first steel cut at the Heerema Fabrication Group shipyard in Vlissingen marks the start of construction of the jacket for the IJmuiden Ver Beta offshore platform. Heerema Fabrication Group is building the jacket as one of three structures for TenneT’s 2 GW programme, on behalf of the Seatrium and GE Vernova consortium.

The jacket measures 90 metres in length, 43 metres in width, and weighs over 10,000 tonnes. IJmuiden Ver Beta will be the first in a series of 2 GW connections that TenneT plans to deliver in the Dutch and German North Sea. The platform’s design allows for the transport of large amounts of sustainable energy to shore using fewer platforms and cables. The wind farm, with a total capacity of 2 GW, is expected to be commissioned in two phases: 1 GW in 2029 and the remaining 1 GW in 2032, by operator Zeevonk, a joint venture between Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
