Cumulative installed capacity of wind power in Japan reached 5,840.4 MW at the end of December 2024, according to preliminary figures compiled by the Japan Wind Power Association. In 2024, new installations added a gross capacity of 703.3 MW from 170 units across 23 windfarms nationwide. When excluding windfarms that have been removed, the net installed capacity for the year was 663.0 MW from 120 units at 15 windfarms, resulting in a cumulative total of 5,840.4 MW from 2,720 units.
