The Global Renewables Alliance has published a report outlining actions needed by governments and companies to enable access to renewable energy across the Asia-Pacific region. It recommends regulatory and market changes to support wider uptake of 24/7 carbon-free energy in South Korea, India, Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The report identifies three strategic areas for action:

  1. Policy and market reforms – Simplifying permitting processes, improving market transparency, and introducing time-stamped renewable energy certificates to match supply and corporate demand more accurately.
  2. Grid modernisation and storage – Upgrading electricity grids and expanding long-duration energy storage to allow real-time balancing and better integration of variable renewable generation.
  3. Corporate leadership – Supporting companies already pursuing 24/7 clean energy through power purchase agreements and more advanced procurement tools.
