Maersk names wind turbine installation vessel Maersk Viridis

Maersk Offshore Wind has named its new wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV), Maersk Viridis, during a ceremony held on board the vessel. The vessel was officially christened by its godmother, Charlotte Nørkjær Larsen, during an event on the main deck in which a bottle of champagne was broken against the crane pedestal.

The Global Renewables Alliance (GRA) has issued a statement outlining a five-step Renewables Action Plan that calls on governments to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy in response to renewed global energy price volatility. The plan identifies five priority actions for governments: fast-tracking permitting, removing grid and storage bottlenecks, mobilising financing, accelerating electrification and expanding renewable supply chains.
China’s 15th five-year plan sets direction for renewables expansion and wind growth to 2030

China’s new national development strategy for 2026–2030 includes continued large-scale deployment of renewable energy, with wind and solar expected to remain central to the country’s energy transition. Under the 15th Five-Year Plan, China aims to reduce carbon intensity – emissions per unit of GDP – by about 17% between 2026 and 2030 as part of its pathway to peak emissions before 2030 and reach carbon neutrality by 2060.

Iberdrola launches bid to acquire remaining shares in Neoenergia

Iberdrola has published the documentation for a takeover bid to acquire all shares in its Brazilian subsidiary Neoenergia that are not currently controlled by the group. On 24 November 2025, the company launched a bid for the remaining 16.2% of Neoenergia’s share capital, a move that would give Iberdrola full ownership of the Brazilian business.
RWE reports 2025 earnings and outlines expansion of generation portfolio to 65 GW by 2031

Study finds 5–10% optimal overdimensioning for German offshore grid connections

A new study by Frontier Economics, commissioned by Bundesverband Windenergie Offshore and Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft, finds that the economically optimal level of overdimensioning for offshore grid connections in the German North Sea is around 5–10%. The analysis indicates that a uniform requirement of 20%, as outlined in the 2025 area development plan, would lead to unnecessary system costs.
Nordex to supply turbines for community wind farm in Germany

Nordex has received an order for 49 MW for a new community wind farm in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. As part of the Heek-Strönfeld project for Bürgerwind Heek-Strönfeld, Nordex will supply seven N175/6.X wind turbines with a hub height of 179 metres. The order also includes a 25-year service agreement.
Scottish Renewables appoints Susie Lind as Chair and Finley Becks-Phelps as Vice-Chair
