Mitsubishi withdraws from three Japanese offshore wind projects

Mitsubishi Corporation has announced it will withdraw from three Japanese offshore wind power projects. Mitsubishi Corporation, through a consortium led by its subsidiary Mitsubishi Corporation Offshore Wind Ltd., has been developing offshore wind projects in three areas off the coast of Japan: Noshiro City, Mitane Town, and Oga City (Akita Prefecture); Yurihonjo City (Akita Prefecture); and Choshi City (Chiba Prefecture). The consortium won the first state auctions for the three wind farms in Chiba and Akita prefectures in 2021.
US administration to withdraw approval for Maryland offshore wind project

The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to withdraw federal approval for US Wind’s 2.2GW offshore wind farm off the coast of Maryland, according to a filing in the US District Court in Delaware. Department of Justice attorneys asked the court to stay a lawsuit challenging the Interior Department’s approval of the Maryland Offshore Wind Project. They said the agency would move to vacate the facility’s construction and operations plan by September 12.
Palinger Marine wins crane supply contract for Baltica 2 offshore wind farm

Palinger Marine has secured a contract to deliver 108 fixed boom service cranes for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in Poland. The order includes 107 fully electric PF120 cranes for installation on the turbine service platforms and one additional unit for training purposes.
OX2 secures asset management contract for 550 MW wind portfolio in Sweden

OX2 has signed an asset management agreement with Renewable Power Capital covering four wind farms in Sweden with a combined capacity of 550 MW.
Wind and solar generate over one-fifth of U.S. electricity in first half of 2025

A review by the Sun Day Campaign of data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) shows that wind and solar together provided just over 20% of U.S. electricity during the first six months of 2025. In total, renewables accounted for nearly 28% of generation. Wind remained a central source of renewable power. Turbines generated 11.6% of U.S. electricity between January and June, a 2.4% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Output from wind was nearly twice that of hydropower and continues to play a key role in reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
Verlume and Kraken Robotics collaborate on subsea battery technology

Verlume, a developer of subsea energy management and storage systems, has entered into a collaboration with Kraken Robotics, supplier of SeaPower subsea battery solutions. The partnership will combine Verlume’s Axonn energy management technology with Kraken’s subsea batteries to provide integrated power systems for offshore applications.
OX2 begins construction of 40 MW wind farm in Poland

OX2 has taken the investment decision for the Annopol onshore wind farm in south-eastern Poland, which will have a total capacity of 40 MW. Located in the Gościeradów and Annopol municipalities, the wind farm will consist of ten Vestas V136 turbines.
Thistle Wind Partners submits onshore plans for Ayre Offshore Wind Farm

Thistle Wind Partners (TWP) has submitted an onshore planning application to The Highland Council for the Ayre Offshore Wind Farm. The project, located east of Orkney and north-east of Caithness, would have a capacity of 1 GW once operational.
SSE and Equinor finalise seabed lease for Dogger Bank D

SSE and Equinor have finalised a seabed lease with The Crown Estate to advance the Dogger Bank D offshore wind project. This represents the latest milestone in the development of a proposed fourth phase of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm, the 3.6 GW project currently under construction off the coast of England in the North Sea.
Luxcara reserves Siemens Gamesa turbines for German North Sea projects

Luxcara has reserved offshore wind turbines from Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for its projects in the German North Sea by 2029. The Hamburg-based asset manager has signed a capacity reservation agreement with Siemens Gamesa for the 1,500 MW Waterekke offshore wind project. The agreement, concluded after an international tender, covers the delivery of 97 turbines, each with a capacity of 15.5 MW (including power boost).
