Envision Energy has announced that its EN-272 / 16.7 MW offshore wind turbine has been awarded a provisional Type Certificate by DNV. The certification was issued under the internationally recognised IECRE renewable energy certification system and covers the full product lifecycle, including design assessment, material verification, manufacturing audits and testing under extreme environmental conditions.
Vineyard Wind allowed to resume offshore wind activities in Massachusetts

A U.S. District Court has ruled that Vineyard Wind may resume full activities in its lease area on the Outer Continental Shelf off Massachusetts. On 15 January 2026, Vineyard Wind filed a legal challenge against a suspension order issued by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management on 22 December 2025. The court has now stayed the suspension order while the legal process continues.

Germany postpones offshore wind auctions planned for 2026

The German Federal Cabinet has decided to postpone offshore wind seabed auctions scheduled for 2026. Under the decision, the offshore wind areas N-10.1 and N-10.2 in the North Sea will not be re-auctioned in 2026 after receiving no bids in August 2025. Instead, the auctions are expected to take place in 2027, with the exact timing to be defined in the area development plan by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency.
Scottish Government sets offshore wind target at 40 GW by 2040
