Pacifico Energy Korea has received approval for an Electricity Business License (EBL) from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy for its 420MW Myeong Ryang offshore wind project off Jindo County, South Jeolla Province. The licence confirms the project’s site boundaries and capacity, enabling the start of the permitting process.
The project is part of Pacifico Energy Korea’s planned 3.2GW Jindo offshore wind cluster, which also includes the 990MW Manho and 1.8GW Jindo Baram projects. Myeong Ryang is the first phase of the cluster. Geotechnical surveys are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of this year, followed by the Environmental Impact Assessment, Maritime Safety Assessment and other permitting steps. Construction is planned to start in 2030, with commercial operations expected by the end of 2033.
