Luxcara has reserved offshore wind turbines from Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for its projects in the German North Sea by 2029. The Hamburg-based asset manager has signed a capacity reservation agreement with Siemens Gamesa for the 1,500 MW Waterekke offshore wind project. The agreement, concluded after an international tender, covers the delivery of 97 turbines, each with a capacity of 15.5 MW (including power boost).
Following the award of the Waterekke project, Luxcara began assessing synergies with the neighbouring Waterkant project (around 300 MW) to improve economic efficiency. The company sees potential in combining procurement processes, contract awards, installation campaigns, and operations. Given the advanced stage of Waterekke and the potential for integration, Luxcara is also considering Siemens Gamesa turbines for Waterkant. For this option, the company has additionally reserved 19 turbines of the same type.
Luxcara had originally signed a preferred supplier agreement with Ming Yang Smart Energy for Waterkant, covering 16 turbines of up to 18.5 MW each. The possible turbine change has been discussed with the relevant approval authorities, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and project partners have been informed.
