Heelstone Renewable Energy, a USA-based renewable energy developer, has acquired a portfolio of wind and solar energy projects along with staff from Valor Infrastructure Partners (VIP), a company based in Palm Beach, Florida, with a focus on renewables.
This is Heelstone’s first acquisition since joining Qualitas Energy in May 2024. Qualitas Energy is an international investment and management platform focused on renewable energy, energy transition, and infrastructure projects.
The portfolio includes several onshore wind projects in the western USA and a solar photovoltaic project in Texas with a planned installed capacity of 190 MW. Commercial operations are expected between 2027 and 2028, depending on development progress.
Eleven staff from VIP have joined Heelstone, bringing experience in solar, wind, and battery storage development. Mike Weich will become CEO of Heelstone, while Daryl Hart, previously Chief Development Officer at VIP, will remain in that role at Heelstone.
Based in Durham, North Carolina, Heelstone now employs around 60 people working across the full project lifecycle, with experience in the USA’s renewable energy market.
