All 242 wind turbines have been installed at the SunZia Wind project in the USA, one year after the start of project delivery. SunZia Wind and Transmission is being developed by Pattern Energy and is currently the largest onshore wind project in the USA for which Vestas has supplied turbines.
The project includes an 885 km transmission line designed to connect the wind farm to the grid. The installed capacity is expected to generate enough electricity to supply around 320,000 USA households once fully commissioned. The next phase includes turbine commissioning and connection to the transmission infrastructure, enabling power delivery to New Mexico, Arizona and other areas.
