The last of the 52 wind turbines at the Ecowende offshore wind farm was installed on 30 October 2026. The turbine is located approximately 53 kilometres off the coast of IJmuiden, in the Hollandse Kust (west) wind farm zone, Lot VI. With this milestone, the project has entered its final phase of construction. The wind farm is expected to become operational by the end of 2026.
The first turbine was installed on 30 May 2026. Vestas supplied the V236-15.0 MW turbines and is responsible for their installation and commissioning. Van Oord transports the turbines from Eemshaven to the offshore site using its installation vessel Boreas. The company previously installed the foundations and inter-array cables. The wind farm will have an installed capacity of approximately 760 MW. It is being developed by Ecowende, a joint venture between Shell, Eneco and Chubu.
