Australian consultancy Entura has entered into a collaboration with Afry, a European engineering and advisory group, to support offshore wind feasibility licence holders preparing to bid in Victoria’s upcoming offshore wind auction.
Entura will guide Afry through Australian regulatory frameworks, providing local knowledge to support stakeholder engagement and regional requirements. Its role will include tailored bid support based on experience with regulatory submissions, grid and environmental approvals, and renewable energy design in Australia. Afry will contribute technical expertise, cost analysis, site characterisation, due diligence and package management.
The Victorian Government has awarded 11 feasibility licences off Gippsland, where Australia’s first offshore wind farms are expected to become operational in the early 2030s. The auction will be open only to licence holders, with Contracts for Difference (CfDs) to provide long-term revenue certainty. Details on pricing and assessment criteria will be confirmed once tender rules are released.
Victoria has set offshore wind targets of 2 GW by 2032, 4 GW by 2035 and 9 GW by 2040.
