WEG and Petrobras have signed a strategic partnership for the joint development of a 7MW onshore wind turbine to be manufactured in Brazil. The wind turbine will have a tip height of 220 metres and a weight of 1,830 tons.
The agreement includes the development of technologies for the manufacturing of wind turbine components suitable to the wind conditions in the country, as well as the construction and testing of a prototype with technical and commercial counterparts for Petrobras. Serial production of the wind turbine is expected to start in 2025. Petrobras will invest R$ 130 million in the project.
