SeaTwirl’s floating wind project “Verti-Go” has been selected by Horizon Europe to enter the grant preparation stage for a €15 million funding call. The application was submitted under the programme’s call for “Demonstrations of innovative floating wind concepts”, managed by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).
SeaTwirl’s proposal, developed in partnership with a consortium of 11 companies and academic institutions, was selected from a competitive field. The “Verti-Go” project aims to deliver a full-scale demonstration of a 2 MW SeaTwirl vertical-axis floating wind turbine. The project scope includes design, fabrication, installation, and operational phases.
The next step is the grant preparation process, during which the legal and administrative framework is finalised between the European Union and the consortium partners. This stage is expected to take around three months. Subject to successful negotiation and formal agreement, the project is scheduled to begin in August 2025.
The design phase is expected to conclude by the end of 2026, construction in the second quarter of 2028, and operational commissioning by the end of 2029.
