IQIP, together with EnBW and Vattenfall, has announced the first full-scale offshore monopile installation using EQ-Piling technology. The installation is planned at the Dreekant offshore wind farm in Germany, which is being developed by EnBW. The project represents a step towards the commercial deployment of the installation method, which is designed to reduce noise and emissions compared with conventional approaches.
IQIP has contracted DEME to carry out the installation using its offshore vessel Orion. Vattenfall is participating as a consortium partner. Installation of the demonstration monopile is scheduled for the coming month, subject to final permitting. EQ-Piling is intended as an alternative installation method with lower noise levels and reduced carbon emissions, while remaining scalable for offshore wind applications.
