Goldwind has entered a technology partnership with Casa dos Ventos and Cortez Engenharia to develop the Everest Project, a demonstration initiative focused on the construction of a very tall onshore wind turbine tower in Brazil.
The project will deploy a GWH182-7.5 MW wind turbine, assembled at Goldwind’s manufacturing facility in Camaçari. The turbine will be installed on a tower with a hub height of 166 metres.
The demonstration project will use a self-lifting installation system combined with large pre-assembled concrete tower sections. This approach is intended to reduce reliance on ultra-large cranes and support the installation of turbines at greater heights, where wind conditions are typically stronger.
The Everest Project is designed to validate the tower and installation technology under local conditions, with a view to potential future commercial application in the Brazilian onshore wind market.
