GL Garrad Hassan has developed a direct link between its own aero-elastic wind turbine design tool Bladed and two offshore analysis codes: ANSYS ASAS and Bentley SACS. Rollix has developed pitch and yaw bearings for the new Alstom Haliade 150-6MW offshore wind turbine. Within the framework of a strategic partnership, Alstom and Rollix have developed the slewing ring bearings for both the blades and the nacelle of the turbines.

Siemens Energy has launched its new 6MW direct drive wind turbine. The new SWT-6.0 will be available with rotor diameters of 120 and 154 meters. It features the Siemens direct drive design with 50 per cent fewer parts than comparable geared wind turbines.

A full-size prototype of the floating LIDAR offshore resource assessment system, known as FLIDAR, has been successfully tested 15km off the Belgian coast. It has been located next to a stationary LIDAR (WINDCUBEv2 LIDAR from Leosphere) on a fixed communication mast for the month of October, in order to test survivability and validate the accuracy of the wind speed measurements.
