TotalEnergies has filed permit applications for two offshore wind projects in the German North Sea and Baltic Sea with a combined capacity of 3 GW. The applications, submitted to the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency, cover the NordseeEnergies 1 project at 2 GW and the OstseeEnergies project at 1 GW.
Both sites were awarded to TotalEnergies in a 2023 tender run by the Federal Network Agency. The submissions include an environmental impact assessment and outline plans for turbine placement and cable routing. The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency has up to 18 months to assess the material and issue a decision. NordseeEnergies 1 will be located in the North Sea, while OstseeEnergies will be sited in the Baltic Sea. Construction on both projects is expected to begin in 2029, with commissioning planned for 2031.
